For the holidays this year, I wanted to make hand knotted pearl bracelets for my loved ones and for my son's teachers at school. It's a really fun project and here's an example of some of my finished pieces:

Step One: "I Am Groot" Pixel quilt for my toddler son
Finished product! |
I really thought that making a pixel quilt would be an easy venture. I hadn't realized that it would be between 600-700 squares. My suggestion to anyone out there who wants to make a pixel quilt. COUNT how many squares you'll have to cut. I find this the easiest thing to do because after I didn't count how many squares of each colors I had, I ended up having to cut more and more at different stages of the quilting. Since my son LOVES Groot (baby Groot, older Groot, teenage Groot), I wanted to find something that looked somewhat easy to create. Here is the pixel map that I chose for my son's quilt. I just did a google search for Baby Groot pixel art.
In progress this is what my quilt looks like.
I'm working from the pixel map and have divided it into three manageable portions. The head part, the body part, and the pot that Baby Groot is dancing in. I decided to do a fun purple/blue color for the pot.
